Born and brought up in London, Andrew Wong has been immersed in the world of restaurants since childhood. His grandfather, who moved to London as a Chinese refugee, owned pubs in the East End and later a restaurant China Town, at a time before the cuisine had taken off in the capital. In 1985, Andrew’s parents opened a Cantonese restaurant Kym’s in Pimlico, named after Andrew’s grandmother, now the location of restaurant A Wong.
