Toasted Bread Crumbs


  • 2 cups fresh Italian or French bread cubes, crusts removed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • ½ cup olive oil or melted unsalted butter



Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pulse the bread in a food processor to make coarse crumbs. Spread on a baking sheet. Stir the salt and pepper into the oil or butter and drizzle over the bread crumbs. Bake, stirring occasionally, until golden but not hard, 15 to 20 minutes.
