This is one of the most popular Greek fish dishes, usually made with salt cod. It’s the typical dish prepared on March 25, a double holiday: the Annunciation of Virgin Mary and Greek Independence Day, marking the beginning of the great revolution of 1821 against Turkish domination.

Bacaliaros Skordalia is frequently served with boiled red beets.
