1308 Macaroni with ham and Parmesan cheese

  • 1 lb macaroni
  • 1 lb ham or corned beef
  • ⅛–¼ lb Parmesan cheese
  • 3–4 spoons butter


Boil 1 lb macaroni in salted water, turn into a coarse sieve, and rinse with cold water. Finely chop 1 lb boiled ham or corned beef and grate a piece of Parmesan cheese. Grease a platter or a tin or silver saucepan with ½ spoon butter, sprinkle lightly with Parmesan, and add a layer of macaroni and then a layer of ham. Lightly sprinkle with cheese, dot with bits of butter, and add another layer of macaroni and ham. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan, add butter, and bake.
