Ingredients

  • almost 1 glass milk, or ½ glass sour cream and ½ glass beer
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 medium apples
  • ½ lb butter
  • glasses flour

Method

Just before frying, mix together glasses flour, almost 1 glass milk or ½ glass each sour cream and beer (1 spoon yeast may be added), and 4 egg yolks. Whip 4 egg whites until stiff (or beat in whole eggs, that is, do not beat the whites separately) and fold into the mixture just before frying. Peel, slice, core, and seed 5 medium apples. Dip each slice in the batter and drop it into hot fat or butter. Fry on both sides and sprinkle with sugar when serving.
