Method

Discard any twigs and pour the cherries into bottles, filling them rather compactly, but do not mash the fruit at all. For each bottle sprinkle on a full cup of the best sieved sugar, stop up the bottles, and tie with cords. When white bread is removed from the oven, set the bottles in the oven, shut the oven door, and leave the bottles there until the oven cools.
