Method

Distill ordinary vodka over dried lemon peels and pour 4 shtofs of this distilled vodka into a thick glass bottle. Pound 12 zolotniki cinnamon, 4 zolotniki star anise, and 5 zolotniki each cardamom and mace. Grate 2 nutmegs and add all the spices to the bottle. Spread rye dough, 3 fingers thick, over the bottle. For 4 days in a row, place the bottle in the oven overnight after baking bread, and remove it from the oven every morning. Then pour off the vodka and sweeten it, adding 1 lb sugar for each shtof vodka.
