In the parts of the world where curry is a staple of the diet, all cooks make their own private blend of spices. Use this blend as a starting point to create your own special curry powder. Use it wherever a unique taste is wanted, such as in stews, deviled eggs, salad dressing, and even in baking.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup coriander seed
  • ¼ cup ground turmeric
  • 1 large cinnamon

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in a flat pan and bake at 200°F for 30 minutes, stir occasionally, and watch to avoid browning.
  2. Grind in a blender, food processor, or spice grinder until evenly ground. Store tightly covered.
