On a family holiday in Wales we fished for mackerel from a boat. We caught loads and I cooked up the catch with the help of the children when we returned to land. The teenage boys loved filleting and cutting the fish, the younger ones coated the fillets in oatmeal and I was chief fryer. Every single, last mouthful was eaten. I have to say, though, some of them shunned the chilli beetroot and dipped their mackerel in ketchup!
