These are infinitely better than store bought and if you’re going to the trouble of making home-made tacos or guacamole, they only take 10 minutes in the oven. See the photograph.


  • 10 corn tortillas
  • vegetable oil, for brushing
  • sea salt, for sprinkling


Preheat the oven to 210°C (415°F) or 190°C (375°F) fan forced.

Brush the tortillas on both sides with vegetable oil. Use scissors to cut each tortilla into 6 triangles. I stack three or four and slice them together. Spread the triangles in a single layer over two large baking trays and bake for 8–9 minutes until golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with salt.
