Hoşmerim is of Anatolian origin. The story goes that a lady devised this dish and served it to her husband. He commended her by remarking: “This is a very nice dish, ” and she responded: “Hoş (nice) mu (is it) erim (husband)?” Thus the dish came to be known as “hoş-m’erim”!
You can also serve hoşmerim plain, sprinkled with icing sugar.
