  • ½ cup warm water (110° to 115°F.)

Method

  1. Combine the yeast, warm water and one teaspoon of the sugar. Let stand for five minutes to soften yeast.

  2. Combine hot milk and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Add to yeast mixture. Stir in the salt, egg, two cups of the flour and the remaining sugar. Beat batter until it falls in a sheet from the spoon.
