The best sauces for bread pudding are those that are in essence a combination of afterdinner drink and dessert. This sauce is the kind you’d find in restaurants, but it’s not often made at home. You can substitute rum or brandy for the whiskey if you like, or perhaps even vanilla if you’d prefer it to be nonalcoholic (although most vanilla does contain alcohol).
