Building a barbecue is obviously not difficult, finding a place in the open where it is permitted often is, always be aware of fire restrictions in your area. Sometimes there are also restrictions on gathering wood. If all else fails, use the barbecues provided in parks and camping grounds.
What is fun is of course to build a barbecue yourself. The safest place to use a home-made barbecue is next to water, whether it is a beach, river or a large bucket full of water, the wind can suddenly send the flames in a totally unexpected direction! >>> oof will show you, watch!
  • Dig a hole. Search for rocks that neatly fit around it. Build a border with two layers of rocks, which may come in handy later.

  • Check whether the rack you brought fits.

  • Gather wood and fill the fire (you can obviously also bring your own logs which can be purchased in bags).

  • Light the fire. Use a portable fire lighter, the fire started immediately.

  • Now it has to burn for a while until the flames have died down and the wood smoulders. In the meantime, have a drink and wait.

  • Prepare your food, in this case 2 steaks, a bunch of rosemary, olive oil, pepper and salt.

  • Briefly rub the meat with the olive oil and sprinkle with pepper and salt.

  • The barbecue is smouldering, the meat can go on it.

  • We want it hotter, therefore oof lowers the meat

  • Remove the first layer of rocks: that’s more like it!

  • Grill the meat on both sides, do not turn it constantly,

  • Just leave it be.

  • Occasionally brush with a rosemary sprig dipped in olive oil

  • Leave to rest for 10 minutes away from the fire.

  • Yes! only then can you carve the meat. Bon appétit!
