How does it smell: clean, weak or pronounced; fruity, floral, vegetal or spicy?
Rich, tropical fruit flavours in a white wine and hot, spicy, slightly jammy characters in a red are clues to a warm climate. Conversely, steely acidity in a white will make you think of cool climates, as will elegance in a red. The nose is probably your greatest clue to the grape variety.
