Hypomyces hyalinus (Schwein) Tul. & C. Tul. (illustrated 75% life size) Fruit body whitish to pink-tinged mould with reddish or amber perithecia; forms a dense, thick covering on Amanita hosts, distorting them into unrecognizable thick, club-shaped forms. Spores 13–22Γ—4.5–6.5ΒΌ, fusiform, unequally 2-celled, strongly warted; transparent. Habitat on Amanita species including Amanita rubescens; summer to autumn. Very rare in Britain. Not edible.
