Saffron

The dried stigmas of the saffron crocus, this is said to be the most expensive spice in the world. Saffron is also available in powdered form, but because it is so expensive, is often adulterated. It is a traditional ingredient of the classic Spanish dish β€˜paella’, and is also used in soups, rice dishes, cakes and biscuits.
