With the exception of baked pasta dishes such as lasagne, no pasta dish should be cooked ahead of time. The bloody stuff only takes a few minutes to cook, it is really fast convenience food. Bringing your pot of water to the boil is generally the most time-consuming part of the process. Sauces can be prepared in advance, but only cook and sauce the pasta at the last minute.
