Heartbroken

WALT’S HEAD THROBS, and he can’t remember what happened before he passed out. He remembers the goblet, and the Knickerbocker Glory Sundae, but he can’t remember how he got—oh, wait—oh, no . . . He wipes a tear from his eye, as the memories flood back.

He remembers how he took the goblet from his friends, how mean he was, how selfish.

Now his head really hurts.

Walt sees water up ahead. He steps across splintered planks of wood as he reaches the very edge of Manhattan, the East River stretching out in front of him, Brooklyn beyond.
