Injection-formed polycarbonate molds are the state-of-the-art chocolate molds for today’s production needs. They offer several advantages over metal molds, including lower cost, lighter weight, transparency, superior shine, and ease of use. Molds made from this material are extremely durable; they last indefinitely provided they are properly cared for. Polycarbonate molds may be transparent or translucent. In either case, the ability to see the chocolate as it contracts from the mold is a convenience for the confectioner, who must determine if the chocolate has contracted enough to be removed from the mold. Polycarbonate molds are available in a wide variety of styles, some modern and some made from actual antique metal molds, thereby coupling convenience and durability with traditional design.
