~ Gulf Browns

Browns have a somewhat stronger flavor than whites because they are omnivores, feeding on both algae and microscopic animals known as zooplankton. Gulf Browns come from the same areas as the whites and are more plentiful. Most Americans prefer whites, but folks in Texas, among others, often prefer browns.
