A Note on Magnalite

My husband says that all people from the country like to do is eat, eat, eat. When I get together with all of my sisters in the country, it is endless food. And we are all big on Magnalite cookware. It looks like a Magnalite factory when we have a family reunion. Magnalite is like a religion to us. I use it at home and in the restaurant. In all of these recipes you will see me say, “Get your Magnalite Dutch oven ... get your Magnalite stockpot ... get your Magnalite chicken fryer.” Our Magnalite has to stay shiny, shiny, shiny both inside and out. The pots might be ten years old, but they look brand new. My daughter Emily says that is how you can tell the difference between the “sisters’” pots and the sisters’ children. Emily’s dish might come in a Magnalite pot, but you are probably going to see the grease building up on the bottom. We recently had a picnic in Lacombe and there was a big table that had to be at least twenty feet long full of Magnalite pots. They came in every shape and size. All of the sisters’ pots were shiny. Emily laughed and said it looked like we just walked out of the store with them. The children’s were not shiny. I go after my pots with a cleanser like a religion. I never realized how much Magnalite we use in my family until that get-together. There was a little of everything and all in Magnalite pots.
