  • About

Geraldene Holt trained as a potter and later qualified as a teacher. She and her family live in a sixteenth-century thatched farmhouse in Devon and in London. Whenever possible she travels widely and especially enjoys cooking abroad, particularly in France.

Geraldene Holtā€™s first book Cake Stall (Penguin Books, 1983), was written as a result of running a market stall in Tiverton selling cakes, biscuits, cookies and scones, using recipes that were tried and tested during twenty years of family cooking and entertaining. Her second book was Travelling Food, a guide to picnics, packed lunches and away-day food. As a result of her frequent radio broadcasts she followed this with the Devon Air Cookbook. Her Budget Gourmet was published in Penguin in 1985.
