Remarks: For best results, waffles should be baked on hot coals. Grease the waffle iron only when the waffles stick to it. After baking the waffles, do not wash the waffle iron with water, but just wipe it with cotton wool or blotting paper. To make successful waffles, the melted butter must be beaten in a cold room until it whitens and the egg whites must be extremely fresh and thoroughly beaten.
