Here are a few quick and easy ways to dress up cakes and cupcakes to make them look more appealing and professionally finished. Always remember the prime rule of decorating any food: Keep it simple. Decorations that are elaborately arranged tend to make food look handled and less appealing, the opposite of what decoration is supposed to accomplish. Decorate a cake filled with raspberry buttercream with raspberries, not strawberries. Use chocolate shavings on a chocolate cake, not a lemon one.
