Recommended intake is about 1 litre/2 pints a day, but you don’t need to regulate how much fluid you drinkyour body will let you know, through thirst.

You should take care what you drink though. Mineral water is preferable to tap water, which may be contaminated by lead or other pollutants. If you do drink tap water, let it run for at least 10 seconds before filling your glass, especially first thing in the day, or when you get home.

Most people will take wine or water with a meal. There are schools of thought that abjure alcohol, and others which frown upon water at meal times as they believe it to dilute the digestion. The latter I take for an outré argument, and give little credence. As for wine, it is known to stimulate and benefit the digestion.
