Ann Ogden Gaffney is a fashionista turned chef and healthy cooking advocate. She is the award-winning author of the James Beard–nominated cookbook Cook for Your LIFE, the founder of the Cook for Your LIFE website, a published academic researcher and a proud Dame d’Escoffier. Ann’s own experience with cancer led her to create both her cookbook and the Cook for Your LIFE website. The website has helped millions of cancer patients and caregivers learn how to cook and promote healthy eating in survivorship and about the foods that nourish and comfort during treatment. Ann’s take on heathy eating is not what you’d expect given her focus. Before immersing herself in the world of food and cooking, Ann had a long career in the fashion industry, which took her to work and eat all over the world, from Paris, where she lived for twelve years, and later from New York, where she finally settled down. Ann’s food is informed by both her Italian heritage and by her love of travel, cooking and adventurous eating. Ann’s food is gourmet food you can eat to live and live to eat! Ann’s work with Cook for Your LIFE has included academic research. Collaborating with researchers at Columbia University and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Ann has designed several food behavior studies funded by major companies like Aetna and by the National Institutes of Health. Ann is currently serving on the Community Center Advisory Board of the NIH-funded P50 Community project in New York. To listen to Ann talk about her work and how she got there, please tune into her wonderful interview with award-winning chef, author and fellow Dame Rozanne Gold on her One Woman Kitchen podcast.
