Deborah Mintcheff enjoys being immersed in two of her passions every day: calligraphy and cookbook editing. She has been in the food industry for over thirty years. Her expertise as cookbook editor was developed at the boutique book-packaging firm of Smallwood & Stewart in New York City, where beautifully crafted cookbooks were produced and published. Formerly, Deborah was a top food stylist, sought after for her exceptional baking skills and creativity. Her clients ranged from large food corporations to food and women’s magazines to high-end book publishers. Her love of food styling evolved while working in magazine test kitchens, but her professional start began as a garde manger at Tavern on the Green restaurant in New York. There, her carving, piping, boning and decorative food skills were developed and honed, encouraged by the head garde manger. Calligraphy is a new passion for Deborah. It is an art form she is uniquely suited for, as it requires patience, a steady hand and a love of the craft. She has recently formed a business, TheArtfulPen. Her clients seek her out for envelope addressing, place cards, menus, commissioned pieces and one-of-a-kind custom watercolor cards. Deborah has been a member of the New York chapter for over twenty years and served as its president and copresident, as well as director at large, treasurer and parliamentarian. She has also served on and chaired various committees. Deborah has also served as the LDEI Board president.
