Architect graduate turned chef, Ellen Gonzalez was an urban planner before realising her passion lay in food. She fondly recalls making her first cake at six years old, her grandmother’s enamel stove and various family gatherings indulging in “all the delights imaginable using sweetcorn”, and these memories continue to be her biggest inspiration. Gonzalez began her Grand Diplôme® in Sydney and completed it in Paris. She has since gone on to work at OuiOui and MiamMiam restaurants in Brazil.
Along with two partners, Gonzalez has launched an artisan pastry shop called me confeitaria artesanal where she makes her favourite pastries, such as macarons, madeleines and marshmallows, and focuses on following a fair-trade concept.
