Li XueYao was a director at Shanghai Dragon TV and an editor and host at the KNEWS news outlet. However, she became so addicted to French cuisine and pastry that she decided to make a career change. She started her culinary studies at Le Cordon Bleu Shanghai in 2015 and following her graduation, started her own gastronomy microblog on Chinese social media, shooting videos to promote culinary techniques and gastronomic culture. With her previous media experience, it was a successful undertaking. Li also works on gourmet TV shows and provides food photography services.
