English-born Matthew Kemp was part of the brigade of bright young chefs who honed their craft under Liam Tomlin at iconic Sydney restaurant Banc in the late 1990s (along with Brett Graham, Colin Fassnidge, Justin North and Warren Turnbull). He went on to bring good honest Mod Brit food to diner with his Restaurant Balzac, which he ran until 2011. Matthew now lives on the NSW north coast and consults to various venues and projects.
