Richard Neat's apprenticeship as a chef in the 80s and 90s included time at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, during which time he received the accolated of UK Young Chef of the Year (1988).
He also worked at Joel Robuchon' 3 Michelin star restaurant Jamin in Paris (the first British chef to work there).
From 1990-1991 he was Head Chef at Marco Pierre White's London restaurant, Harvey's. Then, in 1992, he opened Pied à Terre in London as Chef and co-proprietor, receiving a first Michelin star in January 1993 and a second star in January 1996, at the age of just twenty-nine.
After leaving Pied à Terre in 1996, Neat worked as a consultant for the Taj group in Indian before in 1999 moving to France to open NEAT restaurant in Cannes, which received a Michelin star just 7 months after opening. In 2001, a sister NEAT restaurant opened in London. In May 2004, Neat opened Casa Lalla Riad and Restaurant in Marrakech. Since 2006, Neat has been based in Costa Rica where he runs the Park Café restaurant in San José.
