Simon Hopkinson’s life has always revolved around the kitchen. He began his culinary career at the age of seventeen, when he took a position at the Normandie in Birtle, working under the famous chef Yves Champeau. Hopkinson’s cooking was greatly influenced by regional French flavours. He moved on to become the head chef at the Shed in Dinas, and at 24-years-old won an Egon Ronay Star. His success in the restaurant industry culminated in the opening of Bibendum, located in the old Michelin Tyre Company headquarters in London. Hopkinson has since left the professional kitchen to focus on writing. He has presented two TV series, The Good Cook and Simon Hopkinson Cooks (each with an accompanying book), but is perhaps best know for 'Roast Chicken and Other Stories', written with Lindsey Bareham.
