Tawnya Bahr was born and raised in Oregon in the Pacific Northwest of America but has called Australia home since 1995. She has worked in the food industry for 22 years. Before studying the Diplôme de Cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu Sydney, she founded and ran a food production and gourmet distribution company called The Condiment Connoisseur.
Today, Bahr is one of the leading food consultant chefs in Australia and runs two companies within the food sector. The first business, Straight To The Source takes chefs and hospitality professionals directly to primary producers throughout Australia to learn about provenance and production techniques of the ingredients used in commercial kitchens. The second business, Tawnya Bahr Food Consulting, is an established and well-respected company providing many services to the hospitality and foodservice sector. In this space, Bahr is a qualified chef, specialty food consultant, professional restaurant reviewer, regional food and bakery judge, committee member for the Australian Culinary Federation NSW and ACT Chapter and mentor to many artisan producers.
