Ismail Merchant was born into a traditional Muslim, family trom Bombay. Though he now lives in New York he still prefers the delicious food that he grew up with in India, and re-creates it in his own style. adding to his recipes what he has learned from his favourite Western cuisines. mainly French and Italian.
Ismail is famous among his friends and colleagues in the film world for his original and very tasty cooking.

Indian family recipes, delicately spiced. are subtly combined with eclectic influences from Europe and America; the result is a very personal style of food that is both elegantly simple and quick to prepare.
