Dorie Greenspan is an American cookbook author most famous for her skill in pastry. Her journey into the culinary world was unconventional. Besides almost burning down her parent’s house at the age of 13 while baking cookies, Greenspan was not a cook in her youth. It was only after her marriage that she also ironically fell in love with baking. She was pursuing a doctorate in gerontology when she decided to shift careers to cookery writing. Greenspan has had an illustrious career, publishing 11 books on baking and pastry including, Desserts by Pierre Herme, and, Around my French Table. She has also partnered with celebrity chef including Julia Childs and Daniel Boulud. Greenspan is the two-time winner of the James Beard Foundation Award, and was also awarded the International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook of the Year Award. Her latest book, Baking Chez Moi, Recipes from My Paris Kitchen to your Kitchen Anywhere, was featured on the New York Times Bestseller list.
