Method

1) In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring the strawberries, freeze-dried strawberry powder, granulated sugar, and balsamic vinegar to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently and mashing the berries slightly, until they have released their juices. Remove from the heat and stir in the vodka (if using) and vanilla. Let cool to room temperature.
