  • oz. butter or margarine
  • oz.


Chop the onions, put into a saucepan and fry them till tender and golden-brown in the butter. Add the flour and brown it a very little. Stir in the liquid, bring to the boil, stirring all the time. Add the other ingredients and simmer the sauce for 15–20 min.

Serve with boiled beef or other meat, fish or vegetables.
