Coffee Sauce

Ingredients

  • ¼ pt. very strong coffee
  • ¼ pt. milk
  • 1heaped teasp. cornflour or custard powder
  • 1 egg yolk
  • sugar to taste
  • vanilla essence (optional)
  • 1 teasp. rum (optional)

Method

Thicken the coffee and milk with the cornflour or custard powder (see Cornflour Sauce). Cool the sauce, add the egg yolk and cook it without boiling. Sweeten and flavour to taste.
