Fruit Sauce

Fruits suitable are: Damsons, Plums, Raspberries, Redcurrants, Blackberries.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. bottled or fresh fruit
  • a very little water to stew
  • sugar to sweeten
  • lemon juice, if liked
  • 1 teasp. (rounded) arrowroot to each ½ pt. purée

Method

Stew the fruit in the water till soft, sieve it. Sweeten, flavour and thicken the sauce with arrowroot blended with a little cold water or fruit juice.
