Method

Beat the eggs with the sugar. Add the warmed milk and flavouring. Strain into a greased pie-dish. Stand the pie-dish in a tray of warm water and bake slowly in a warm-moderate oven (335°–350° F., Gas 3–4) until the custard is set in the centre—about 50 min.
