Ingredients

  • 1 lb. plain flour
  • 1 teasp. salt
  • ½ oz.

Method

Mix the salt with the warmed flour, cream the yeast with the sugar. Rub fat into flour and mix with the yeast, milk and egg if used, to a fairly soft, light dough. Beat until mixture is smooth and leaves the sides of the basin clean. Allow to stand in a warm place till twice its original size. Proceed as for White Bread (opposite), or see following recipes.
