Grease a 7-in. cake-tin and line the bottom with greased greaseproof paper.

Sift flour and salt, add oatmeal, rub in the fat and mix with other dry ingredients. Add treacle, mixed with beaten egg, and enough milk to make a dropping consistency. Put into the tin, cover with paper and steam 1½ hr
