Oysters on Toast

Ingredients

  • White or brown bread
  • butter for toast
  • 2–3 oz. cooked ham, cut very thinly
  • 12 small oysters
  • seasoning
  • 1 oz. butter for coating oysters
  • lemon

Method

Toast slices of white or brown bread, and cut into small rounds—1½–2 in. diameter. Cover with butter, and small rounds of ham. Beard the oysters and put on the ham, season well, put a small knob of butter on each and bake in a hot oven (425° F., Gas 7) for about 3 min. until the butter has melted. Garnish with wedges of lemon.
