Blackberry and Apple Jam

Ingredients

  • ¾ lb. sour apples (weighed when peeled and cored)
  • ½ pt. water
  • 2 lb. blackberries
  • 3 lb. sugar

Method

Slice the apples and stew them till soft in ¼ pt. of the water. Pick over the blackberries, add the other ¼ pt. of water and stew slowly in another pan till tender. Mix the 2 cooked fruits together. Add the sugar, heat gently until dissolved, then boil rapidly until setting point is reached. Skim, pour into warm, dry jars and cover.
