I created this recipe in memory of my Dadi’s habit of chewing paan, a herbal mouth freshener, after meals. In many ways, it was her ‘dessert, so I felt it would be fitting to make a sweet with the flavours of paan. Mukhwas is a pre-made paan masala with sugar-coated fennel seeds and salted sesame seeds that can be bought at Asian shops or online, as can the rose jam and matcha powder.
