‘If Naples can’t celebrate Easter without its pastiera, then it is even more unthinkable to celebrate Christmas without struffoli. These little sweets are an absolute must. My mother used to make them for Christmas and they were enthusiastically devoured by all of us. In many families they will be made as presents for friends and relatives.’
