“A while back I was in Settimo Vittone in Piedmont at the Trattoria dell’Angelo, famous for its warm and cold antipasti. My whole family was there, one of those occasions where everybody sits together at one long, jolly table. After we had eaten huge amounts of first courses, all of a sudden the pièce de résistance arrived -cooked chestnuts with plenty of cubes of butter melting on top. I ate so many that I couldn’t manage the next three courses!”
