The marriage of apples and cheese is a classic pairing. Introduced into a salad, apples add crispness, sweetness and crunch.
Wash and dry the Swiss chard, cut into julienne, and set aside.
In a medium skillet, render the bacon over medium heat until golden and drain on paper towel. Drain off most of the fat and lightly toast the walnuts in the pan, making sure they do not burn. Drain on paper towels.
