Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 firm sweet apples (such as Idared or Gala), peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

Method

In a nonreactive pot, toss the apples with the lemon zest and sugar. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water if the apples are dry. Cover and place over a low flame and cook for approximately 10 minutes, or until the apples are soft. Shake the pan from time to time to prevent the apples from sticking. Set aside and keep warm.
